Traylor’s was acquired in 1955 by
Bill and Shirley Traylor, who purchased the business—then known
as “The Flying Saucer”—from Shirley’s grandparents, Al and Ethel
Ramsdell. At the time, it was a small drive-in burger stand.
Bill worked as the cook and Shirley was the waitress, and they
lived together in a trailer parked in the restaurant’s lot. Over
time, they expanded the business and renamed it “Traylor’s
Flying Saucer”, eventually shortening it to simply “Traylor’s.”
In 1998, their daughter Julie and her husband Bob bought the
restaurant from Bill and Shirley. Bill passed away in 2001, and
Shirley in 2019.
More recently, MarĂa and Sam (the
one telling this story) acquired Traylor’s. Their commitment is
to honor Bill and Shirley’s legacy by preserving the traditions
that made the place a community favorite, while also modernizing
the business to ensure its continuity and improve both quality
and service.
They are deeply grateful to their loyal customers, visitors, and
the local community for their support, and they invite everyone
to continue enjoying Traylor’s as they celebrate nearly 70 years
of history.
